Soror Johnsie Bullock-Johnson

Professional title: Pediatric Dental Hygienist

Place of Employment: Wake Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry

Educational Institute: BS – Dental Hygiene, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

I have been a dental hygienist for 35 years. For the first three years of my career, I worked in general practice in Cary. I saw patients of all ages in that office. However, my love for young people led me to my current job. I began working in pediatric dentistry in 1992, and I will celebrate my 32nd anniversary at that office in June. In addition to brushing/cleaning teeth, I also counsel patients and their parents on good hygiene practices at home, nutrition, and other healthy practices. I am SPICE (infection control trained), as well as CPR and Basic Life Support trained. I always strive to build a good rapport with my patients and make each young person in my chair feel as if they are my most important patient for the day. I have been at my practice long enough that I am beginning to see the children of former patients. One of my greatest satisfactions, however, is having a current or former patient tell me that they have decided to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. Applying to the dental hygiene program was the best choice I made in college.
