Educational Institute and Major:
AAS General Education, Wake Technical Community College

Relevant Experience and Skills:
As a psychotherapist, I utilize various modalities and evidenced based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma- Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, with strategic interventions from Dialectical Behavior Therapy highlighting mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance to facilitate symptom management.
As a licensed professional, I recognize and highlight the obvious to my clients, that I am a Black Woman. Furthermore, that I am a Black Woman with unique experiences as a Foundational Black American with experiences that inform my personhood, presentation, and approach to the counseling relationship. To that end, my clinical approach can vary from clinical jargon born from Jungian, Rogerian, and Beck’s various evidenced based theories, to Maya (Angelou), Toni (Morrison) and Dr. Denise Victoria Kingdom, (LS, Soror and Friend) when their works, words, and experiences are relevant to the client’s therapeutic needs.
I am licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. I strive to be a competent, clinically sound professional, who is a good steward of the opportunities, knowledge, and experiences gifted in this life, to do the things that help me to help others with some of the most vulnerable times in their lives.
I think that this path is a gift and a portion of my purpose for being. Five days a week for the past 15 years, I have had the privilege to help others stabilize unhealthy patterns of functioning, repair, rehabilitate, regain, and/or restore balance and stability to their lives. It’s an amazing and fulfilling profession.
In September 2023, I started a new practice, Core Holistic Mind Care, PLLC, as a means of continuing working as a practitioner in private practice. It has been a journey of beginnings to get to this space and I am happily accepting new clients.
