SOROR VIRGINIA WALL

GREATER Reimagined!



This month, we salute our GREATER Soror, Virginia Percelle Wall. Virginia Wall is a retired professionally qualified educator with more than thirty- seven (37) years of teaching experience. Virginia is proficient in the preparation of forms, proficient in telephone etiquette, adept in relating to the public. She is currently the Office Manager at Oak City Baptist Church.  Virginia earned her degrees at North Carolina Central University in English and French.  She did further study in counseling.  After graduating from NCCU, she moved to New York where she taught her first year at Nathaniel Macon Junior High School.  She later returned to North Carolina where she was hired as a teacher at Garner Senior High School.  She remained at Garner High for more than thirty years.  After retiring, she was hired as a reading teacher at Leesville Road Middle School.  For the past two years she has served as a coordinator for an After School Care Program at Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church.


Virginia is very civic minded and community oriented.  She has served as President of her sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho, for several terms.  She has served as interim Executive Director of the Sorority.  She has served the sorority on the local and regional levels.  She has served as First Vice-President of the Raleigh/Apex Branch of the NAACP.  She has also served as secretary of the organization.  At present, she sits as a member of the Executive Committee and is a member of the education committee.  She serves as a board member of the 501(c) (3) organization, Logan’s P.A.L.S. 


Virginia is a member of the National Association of University Women where she has served as the secretary.  At present she serves as assistant recording secretary and the chaplain. Virginia is the recipient of the A.M. Gus Witherspoon Award for Community Service.  She has received the Lorie Graham Award for Community Service.  She has received the Torch of Freedom Award from the NAACP.  She has received the Lisa Wall education Award for outstanding teacher.  She has received several awards from her sorority including outstanding service award.  She received the Unsung Hero Award from Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  She has received the Advisor of the year award from The Philo Affiliate.  She has received the President’s Award from the NAACP.


Virginia has traveled to France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.
