SOROR CANDACE DAVIS

GREATER Reimagined!





This month, we salute our GREATER Soror, Candace Davis. Candace Davis is an Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Wake Forest.  In this role, she is responsible for oversight of the Town Clerk’s Office; Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources; Downtown Development; and the Renaissance Centre. As Assistant Town Manager, Candace assists with a variety of town priorities, organizational initiatives and special projects. She continues her involvement with the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the bond referendum projects approved by voters in 2014.

 

Candace served as the Town’s first Assistant to the Town Manager from 2017 to 2020. In this role, she was responsible for ensuring the goals and objectives of the strategic plan were accomplished and innovative programs were identified and implemented.  She also served as program manager of the CIP ensuring completion of projects in a timely, cost-effective manner.

 

Throughout her 20-year career, she has been dedicated and committed to the communities she’s served. She has been employed by the Town of Wake Forest for over fifteen years and played a major role in the planning and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, expanding the greenway network and road improvements. She is an accomplished grant writer, who has secured over $25M dollars in funding to support capital improvement projects during her tenure with the town. 

 

Candace has an exceptional record of experience and accomplishment as a public servant. She was named the 2011 Town of Wake Forest Employee of the Year and a 2020 UNC School of Government Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) Fellow.

 

A native of Augusta, Georgia, Candace joined the Town of Wake Forest in 2008 as a Senior Transportation Planner. She was promoted to Transportation Planning Manager in January 2015. Prior to coming to Wake Forest, she served as a Transportation Planner for the Town of Apex and Airport Planner for the Maryland Aviation Administration-BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

 

Candace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University, in Orangeburg, SC and a Master of Science degree in Transportation and Highway Engineering from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD.  A Certified Public Manager, she is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), and the North Carolina City & County Management Association (NCCCMA).

 

She is a member of Wake Chapel Church in Raleigh.  She is a legacy, ruby and life member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc where she serves as Treasurer of the Beta Lambda Sigma chapter. She is also a member of the Capital City Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc where she serves as the Lead Teen Advisor. She enjoys traveling, spas, walking and binge-watching television shows. While she enjoys working and serving the community, it is the time she spends with her college sweetheart, Dr. Coray Q. Davis, two children, Cameron and Courtney (future Sigma Legacy), that brings her the most joy.
