The Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Hosts Operation BigBookBag to Support Wake County Scholars

Raleigh, NC – August 16, 2025 – The GREATER women of the Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Beta Lambda Sigma Charitable Foundation, SAFEchild, and the University of Phoenix, proudly hosted Operation BigBookBag (OBBB) on Saturday, August 16th.

This year’s event was a resounding success, providing well over 200 backpacks, school supplies, snacks, and books to students and families in Wake County.

Operation BigBookBag is a national service initiative of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., first launched in 1996 to ensure students across the nation start the school year with the tools needed to excel. Since its inception, chapters have hosted OBBB annually, continuing the legacy of educational empowerment through service.

“I feel it’s going to ease the burden economically for the parents, whether there is one child or multiple children in the household. Not only the parents but teachers as well.” said BLS President Celeste Brown. “Operation BigBookBag is more than just giving away supplies — it’s about investing in the success of our scholars and showing them that their community is behind them.”

The Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter remains committed to serving the Raleigh community and uplifting future generations through impactful initiatives like OBBB.
